Finally! My crochet blanket is finished. It has ONLY taken 8 weeks to complete! Whew. It has been a labour of love.

I absolutely LOVE my new throw – it looks incredible. I made it to have on one of my couches but I think it would also look great on the end of a bed. The colours are a perfect mix of retro and modern. After discussions and umming and arghing for a bit to decide on the edging on my throw, it was decided that a plain edge would be better than a scalloped edge as it may look too old fashioned.

I think it was the right decision. What do you think?

I now need to find my next crochet project……

crochet blanket: one week in

crochet blanket crochet blanket: one week in

Week one update on my crochet blanket!! What do you think? Isn’t it amazing? Apart from the loose ends of thread that I haven’t tidied up yet (I’ll get to them when I start putting the squares together) I am in LOVE with this.

crochet squares crochet blanket: one week in

In all fairness, this has taken a lot longer than I thought it would…. but after working on this every night for a week while watching the telly, I’m so proud of how many squares I have managed to crochet. 48 squares!!

It is a fun project and if you are like me and you can’t sit still, this is the perfect side project to pick up for those days or evenings where you are feeling lazy and you just want to lounge. At least now, I am ‘lounging’ but also creating at the same time!

I am loving the colour combination in this, it feels modern with the white and the greys but still retro and vintage since it has that olivey green, it will look amazing in my living room when I finish. Or maybe, I will put it at the end of my bed. Haven’t gotten that far yet……

crochet blanket week 1 crochet blanket: one week in

Not sure on how the above should be laid out yet. At the moment, it’s been put together as a collection of 6 ( 3 by 2 ) and then repeated for the entire row. Then, on the next row down, I have offset it by one and then done the exact same combination as the row above. What do you think? Should I offset it or just keep it the exact same through all the rows……?? Decisions, decisions….luckily, I have still have a bit of a way to go before I need to start thinking about that.

wool new project: crochet blanket

New project alert!!!

I just picked up these for my next project! A crochet blanket. This will take me a few months to finish as I’m very new to the crotchet world so I’m thinking I will get it done just in time for winter….. (winter is 6 months away).

nans blanket new project: crochet blanket

This is my inspiration for this project. It was crocheted by my hubby’s late nan and she even dyed the wool from natural plant dyes herself! She made quite a few of these in all different colours schemes and they are all stunning.

I’m using store bought wool in 4 colours and giving it more of a modern feel with light grey marle, warm charcoal, olive green and off white.

Check back for an update next week!
